Who We Are

IndigiGenius is an Indigenous-led nonprofit working to increase the representation of Indigenous people in computer science through culturally informed curriculum, programs, and initiatives.

Why IndigiGenius Exists

  • High School

    Only 67% of American Indian and Alaska Native high school students have access to a computer science course, well below other groups.

  • College Enrollment

    In 2020, 22% of the 18–24-year-old Native American population were enrolled in college compared to 40% of the overall U.S. population.

  • College Graduates

    The number of CS graduates averaged 42 bachelors awarded per year from 2011 to 2022.

  • Computer Science PhD

    The number of CS PhDs. awarded averaged 1.75 awarded per year from 2011 to 2022, or about 0.11% of the awarded CS PhDs.
